Accessing Microsoft Dynamic NAV database.

Hello experts,

I am a student on attachment in the IT department for a retail organization. We use NAV at our organization. My concern is: how do we connect/access Microsoft Dynamics NAV database from Netbeans? Can i query the database from Netbeans? I want to develop a software that generates reports using data from the database. NOTE: i asked the forum at one time and i realized that a developers licence is needed to access the web service of NAVISION. this is not what i want right now. What i want is to access the database itself so i can play around with the data using my own program written in java, exactly the way we do it with MS access. thanks in advance to your answers.

No Customer Ledger entry for posted Sales invoice

We have posted a sales invoice but when we navigate, there are no customer ledger entries, vat entries and wht entries. Only GL entries are created.

What can be the problem?

Prerequisites for setting up Outlook sync in NAV2013/R2

I have browsed through all possible material what I found from PartnerSource but didn't find exactly what I searched. So I ask here - is there any checklist for prerequisites what must be fullfilled bfore starting to setup Outlook Sync?

System Requirements doc shows that customer must have 32bit Office 2010/2013 and that's all. But what about Exchange - is it mandatory? If yes, what version?

What about licensing? Some versions ago I heard rumours that for every syncing NAV client you should have extra NAV user as syncing procedure reserves one concurrent user, is it still the same?

NAV 2013 R2 - Warehouse Management - Pallets

Hello

When updating to NAV 2013R2, we also change our warehouse system to the Warehouse Management (WM)system in NAV 2013R2.

So far, we have been handling pallets as well as pieces. The bins in WM obviously only is allowed to be pieces, but we have a lot of pallets going in and out.

Is there no way, apart from changing "Unit of measure" to handle pallets in NAV 2013R2?

We have more than 4.000 items in stock and cannot handle "Unit of measure" as we only sell in pieces, and will have the system to pick pallets if the quantity is larger than the quantity for the unit "Pallet" of the item.

connecting to a MS Dynamics NAV database via jdbc

hi,

i am trying to connect to a database that MS Dynamics NAV uses via jdbc. i followed the advice Jonathan gave me yesterday but i am getting an error when i run my code. i will paste the error at the bottom of this question. if i ping the host computers, it replies exectly the way it is supposed to.

also i was thinking  first to bring the database to MySQL Workbench 5.2 CE so that i can see its structure. please assist me with steps and configurations that are necessary to complete this.

¿Quien se encarga de actualizar los modelos impositivos caso que hacienda (españa) haga modificaciones, microsoft o el partner?. ¿Existe algun hotfix con actualizaciones recientes de modelos impostivos para la versión 2013 R2? Agradecería una respuesta lo más pronto posible. Un saludo

Zetadocs Express (NAV 2013 / 2013 R2 / 2015): Using Save and Send on Service Orders

Hi,

We're experiencing this issue with NAV 2013, 2013 R2, and 2015, where the Save and Send functionality will not work for Service Orders. After adding the Zetadocs document factbox and the Save and Send buttons via the Interface Modifier tool, we have also added the additional references to the Metadata information in the Zetadocs Metadata Mappings Table (Table 5900, ZetadocsOrganisation 79 and ZetadocsRecordNo 3) as per ZTN4274 (http://www.equisys.com/technotes/ZTN4274.htm)

But when we attempt to use the Save and Send functionality we receive the following error: "Failed to name report. If the problem persists, please contact administrator."

The same report, which is the default on the Report Selections - Service for Orders, prints without any issues when we use the Print button on the Service Order page.

The only oddity that we can spot is that the instructions on ZTN4274 ask to the use the value "ZetadocsOrganisation" in the Metadata Field Name field while the North American database contains the value "ZetadocsOrganiZation" (with a Z) for all the standard tables that Zetadocs Express already works with (sales and purchasing related tables). We gave ZetadocsOrganiSation a go, but it still didn't work.

All the obvious things have been done. Compiled, service restarted, etc. 

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

Can't Sign in with Web client

Dear, All experts

I had installed MS NAV 2013 r2 in the Server and it can sign in only Windows client.

,But I sign in by Web Client it not work.

when I enter username and password it nothing to show up. like this....

 

and don't have error to show me know, I would like to know why is nothing appear?

Change Accounts Payable GL account on Purchase Order

Hi, I try to create a purchase order (or purchase invoice) for intercompany purchase.  One side will go to expenses account by manual selection and the other side will go to the default Accounts Payable account automatically. I wondered if I could change that default Accounts Payable account to other GL accounts on the run?  The reason is I've tried to separate all the intercompany transactions to third party vendors purchase.  Furthermore, as there have more than one intercompany within the group, I'd like to set up different Account Payable GL accounts for each intercompany. Hope someone can assist on this

Different pages couldn't be opened in Web Client

Hi together,

I've got a confusing problem. Maybe someone could help me:

While trying to open a page via the searchfunction or homescreen (profile) in the webclient I get the following message: 

 „Der Inhalt kann aufgrund eines Serverfehlers nicht angezeigt werden. Aktualisieren Sie die Seite, oder öffnen Sie ein neues Browserfenster.“

"The content couldn't be shown caused by an error of the server. Please refresh the page or open it in a new window."

The string is following:

When I delete the last red marked part &isdlg=1
the page opens. From my research on the internet I know this part ist case-sensitive. But this doesn't change anything about the error in the webclient.

Does anyone have an idea why I get this error? Did anything change in the web client with a new rollup?

Service Management. Error message when trying to delete unposted service contract invoice

I created an invoice according to invoicing period and next invoice date available in contract card.

Before posting this invoice, I try to delete it because some data is wrong but an error message informs me it is not posible:

You cannot delete invoice "invoice number" because one or more service ledger entries exist for this invoice.

Is there any way to delete a contract invoice before it is posted?

If not what should I do to cancel this invoice and reinvoice again this period?

Hi experts, we tried to update the information for the customer, shipment method pages etc, but after updating the information, we have got the error: The document table is not compiled. I asked this question before. Per the experts' advice, I tried to compile all of the objects, but don't have good luck. Please advise! Thank you!

I have a NAV environment that we are migrating from 2009 to 2013 R2 and in order to speed things up and minimize the amount of servers we have stood up, we would like to know if it is ok to install the DB Components for 2009, 2013 & 2013R2 on the same SQL Server?

How to manipulate the column size of a repeater in a page

I have a repeater in a page and I  am currently displaying columns with Decimal datatypes.  But it's too wide, I am hoping to fit about 14 columns in the page so users don't have to scroll to the right.  I think from my research before, the width property doesn't make any difference as Nav 2013 will automatically control the width of the column given the datatype.  I was hoping that conversion to text and by giving text a length, that should do it.  But it didn't.  It actually gave me wider columns.  Any ideas on how to make the columns narrower?

Getting calculated fields value in NAV

Hi there

I get a record of type VendorLedgerEntry this way:

VendorLedgerEntry.GET(2278);

The Record has a column "Amount" of type FlowField and has a CalcFormula like SUM(.....)

The retrieved Record assigned to VendorLedgerEntry variable has no Value in the column "Amount", the return value es '0'

Can I execute the CalcFormula after obtain the Record? or... Can I obtain the record with the field filled with the calculation result value?
